Buying or renting your first home is a huge achievement. Whether you are planning to move in with a partner or friends, the purchase or rental agreement on a new home gives you a level of independence that is hard match and is seen by some as the time that you truly move into adulthood. However, with this being a completely new experience for you, the actual process of moving can be daunting so we at Hadley and Ottaway thought we’d give you a helping hand by providing a few hints and tips to help you through.

Feel free to utilise as many of these tips as you see fit as we feel confident they’ll all help you make your first home move that little bit easier;

Create Lists

To-do lists are incredibly useful during a house move as, with so much to organise, it can be very easy to get lost in masses of boxes, belongings and paperwork that threaten to disrupt your thought processes. For everything you want to avoid forgetting through to the things, you need a gentle reminder to do, pinning up different lists onto your fridge can help you organise your move from start to finish, ensuring it runs as smoothly as possible.

Combine Belongings

As each of you with has your own belongings ahead of your house move, there is a good chance that you may well end up with duplicate products, so to avoid this happening and your home quickly becoming cluttered, get together to work out exactly what each of you has and what you can dispose of, sell, recycle or take to the charity shop. Once you have done this, you’ll have the best products in your new home whilst potentially earning some extra money from your other belongings or doing a good dead by recycling or giving to charity.
