Deciding to move home can be one of the biggest decisions you will make in life, yet contemplating a move overseas can increase this tenfold. Leaving your current life behind to relocate to a new country with your friends and families likely to be thousands of miles away means it is certainly a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly, but on the flip side, a move such as this could be what it takes to completely change your life!

If you are contemplating a move abroad, we at Hadley and Ottaway thought it would be useful to list a few aspects to consider in order to ensure you feel confident in the fact you are making the right decision and are ultimately moving to the right location;

Tip One: Visit Regularly

If you have a country or specific town or city in mind, there’s no such thing as visiting too many times. Visiting regularly and at various stages throughout the year will help you find out all you need to know about the area in addition to seeing what the climate is like throughout the different seasons.

Tip Two: Consider Jobs

It can be so easy to get lost in the excitement of moving abroad that you forget how you are going to support yourself when you get there. Look at the job market and employment statistics in your preferred area so you can see the types of jobs that are currently available whilst ensuring you won’t be forced to return home not long after your arrival.

Tip Three: Do Your Research

When moving abroad, there is likely to be a lot of things that are different to here in the UK. Make sure you do your research on everything from the healthcare system right through to banking and schooling to be confident you won’t be faced with any nasty surprises after arriving at your new home.

Tip Four: Learn the Lingo!

You will find it so much easier once you get to your new home if you already have at least a basic understanding of the native language. Learning the basics will set you in good stead for the first few weeks you are there, and you’ll find that you will soon pick up other useful words and phrases as you spend more time around the locals.

Hopefully these tips have helped if you are contemplating a move abroad, and should you decide that it is the right move for you, get in touch with our team today to find out more about our overseas removals service and how it can benefit you.
