Hadley and Ottaway supplied removals and storage to the BBC One series 'DIY SOS: The Big Build' as part of a life-changing transformation to the home of a family in Duxford.
The family of four, consisting of Mum, Dad, their nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son started to build an extension in April 2011 onto their small two-bedroom bungalow but work quickly ground to a halt when their seven-year-old son Josh was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the liver. The family have been forced to live apart for many months whilst their son has undergone extensive chemotherapy and most recently a liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. As the treatment is on-going he has been allowed to return home from the hospital. The Doctors say that his prospects are positive.
DIY SOS, with the help of local trades, helped to finish the extension (to give them adequate living space and the extra bedroom they desperately need) with Companies like ourselves providing other services to enable the work to be carried out within the 9 days allowed which transformed the bungalow into not just a home but somewhere that would give adequate space for the medical equipment Josh needs on a daily basis.
Managing Director David Galer and Director Chris Howlett were on site for the reveal.
